The Germans cannot directly elect their President because the President is elected by a special assembly called the Federal Convention. This convention is made up of members of the Bundestag (the federal parliament) and an equal number of delegates chosen by the state parliaments. This indirect election process is designed to ensure that the President is chosen in a non-partisan manner and represents the interests of both the federal and state governments. This system also helps to prevent the President from becoming too closely aligned with any particular political party. **

His tough stance on security and his promises to strengthen the country's position on the global stage also appeal to many voters. Furthermore, Erdogan's control over the media and political opposition has limited the ability of alternative voices to gain traction, contributing to his continued popularity among a significant portion of the electorate. **

It gives elected representatives enough time to implement policies and fulfill their promises without the distraction of constant campaigning. However, some may argue that a shorter term could ensure more frequent accountability and responsiveness to changing public opinion. Ultimately, the decision on the length of the term should consider the balance between stability and democratic accountability. **
